For the Ellicott Creek...including Williamsville...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Ellicott Creek near Williamsville. * WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon to late Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...At 8.0 feet, Flood stage, some flooding begins along Aero Drive from Holtz to Transit Roads in Cheektowaga. Also some flooding along the flood control project area in Amherst such as the bike path and golf course. Minor flooding in Ellicott Creek Park. Little or no overall damage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:15 PM EDT Tuesday the stage was 4.64 feet. - Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet. - Forecast...The river will rise to 7.2 feet Wednesday morning. It will rise above flood stage Wednesday afternoon to 9.7 feet early Thursday morning. It will then fall below flood stage early Thursday morning. - Flood stage is 8.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 9.7 feet on 12/23/2013. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Freezing rain is a condition where precipitation which has fallen in the form of
water droplets reaches temperatures which are below freezing and freezes upon
coming into contact
with surface objects. The result of this precipitation is a glaze of ice which
can be damaging to plants and man-made structures. A severe onset of freezing
rain which results in a very thick glaze of ice is known as an ice storm.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
