DESCRIPTION: ...The National Weather Service in Paducah KY has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Illinois... Skillet Fork River at Wayne City. .The first round of what will be many repeat rounds of heavy rain heading into next weekend will be incoming soon. The heavy rain is forecast to cause the Skillet Fork River to rise above flood stage at Wayne City later this week. For the Skillet Fork River...including Wayne City...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Skillet Fork River at Wayne City. * WHEN...From late Thursday night to late Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, Minor flooding occurs affecting mainly bottomland and surrounding low lying areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:00 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 9.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Friday morning to a crest of 16.7 feet early Saturday morning. Additional rises with more rainfall are possible. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 16.7 feet on 12/23/2013.
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Fog is technically a type of stratus cloud, which lies along the
ground and obscures visibility.
It is usually created when humidity in the air condenses into tiny water droplets.
Because of this, some places are more prone to foggy weather, such as regions
close to a body of water.
Fog is similar to mist; both are the appearance of water droplets suspended in
the air, but fog is the term applied to the condition when visibility is less than 1 km.
