AREAS AFFECTED: Carlton, MN; Pine, MN; Ashland, WI; Bayfield, WI; Douglas, WI
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...In Minnesota, Carlton and Pine Counties and Wisconsin, Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas Counties. * WHEN...Until 1130 PM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 740 PM CDT Tuesday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Superior, Ashland, Moose Lake, Washburn, Sanborn, Hawthorne, Iron River, Lake Nebagamon, Cable, Barnes, Wascott, Maple, Barksdale, Brule, Barnum, Poplar, Solon Springs, Oulu, Bayfield and Drummond. - Flood safety information can be found at www.weather.gov/safety/flood.
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Campers and hikers should avoid flooded trail crossings. If camping at a site along or near the banks of rivers or streams, move away from those locations and seek higher ground. Trails in hilly terrain can quickly become unstable during or shortly after heavy rainfall. Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and to the National Weather Service in Duluth when you can do so safely. Flooding can be reported to the National Weather Service at 1-800-685-8612.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
