DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Wisconsin... East Branch Pecatonica River Near Blanchardville affecting Lafayette County. Pecatonica River At Darlington affecting Lafayette County. .Two to four inches of rain has fallen and will likely cause flooding on portions of the East Branch of the Pecatonica River and the Pecatonica River on Saturday. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Pecatonica River at Darlington. * WHEN...Until late this evening. * IMPACTS...At 13.5 feet, Floodwaters touch Main Street in Darlington. A part of the Lafayette County Fairgrounds has 2 to 3 feet of water over it. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 9.7 feet. - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this morning to a crest of 13.7 feet this morning. It will then fall below flood stage late this morning. - Flood stage is 13.5 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 13.8 feet on 05/23/2004. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped
hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.
When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area
of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical
gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific
to any geographic area.
Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole,
skypunch, and cloud hole.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.
