DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Indiana... East Fork White River near Rivervale, and at Columbus. Flatrock River near Columbus. Driftwood River near Edinburgh. East Fork White River at Williams and near Bedford. ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana... East Fork White River at Shoals and Seymour. .Total rainfall amounts of 3 to over 5 inches of rain across much of central and southern Indiana is bringing widespread flooding. Additional rainfall over the weekend and next week could lengthen the amount of time the river remains in flood. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...East Fork White River at Seymour. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 19.4 feet, Lower Rockford Road just south of Reddington Road is impassable at this level based local information. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:45 PM EST Thursday the stage was 19.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:45 PM EST Thursday was 19.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall and remain below flood stage. - Flood stage is 12.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
INSTRUCTION: Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, even a small one, on foot. A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped
hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.
When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area
of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical
gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific
to any geographic area.
Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole,
skypunch, and cloud hole.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.
