AREAS AFFECTED: Northern Erie; Southern Erie; Crawford
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches, with the greatest accumulations in the higher elevations. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Crawford, Northern Erie, and Southern Erie Counties. * WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow can reduce visibility this evening and tonight. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A period of light to moderate snow is expected this morning, with snow covered roads possible during and after the morning commute. After a few hours of dry weather this afternoon, snow showers and squalls, wind gusts up to 45 mph, and falling temperatures will lead to blowing and drifting snow and hazardous road conditions this evening.
INSTRUCTION: Slow down and use caution while traveling. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission strongly encourage motorists to heed all travel restrictions and delay unnecessary travel. Fog is technically a type of stratus cloud, which lies along the
ground and obscures visibility.
It is usually created when humidity in the air condenses into tiny water droplets.
Because of this, some places are more prone to foggy weather, such as regions
close to a body of water.
Fog is similar to mist; both are the appearance of water droplets suspended in
the air, but fog is the term applied to the condition when visibility is less than 1 km.
