DESCRIPTION: ...The National Weather Service in Chicago IL has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Illinois... East Branch Du Page River at Bolingbrook affecting Will and DuPage Counties. For the East Branch Du Page River...including Bolingbrook...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...East Branch Du Page River from Maple Avenue in Lisle downstream to confluence with West Branch DuPage River, including the Bolingbrook gauge. * WHEN...Through late this evening. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, DuPage River Greenway Trail is threatened east of the river near Royce Road in Bolingbrook. Trails threatened at Green Valley Forest Preserve near Woodridge. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:40 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 20.4 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 2:40 PM CDT Tuesday was 20.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to slowly fall below flood stage late this evening or overnight tonight. - Flood stage is 20.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
INSTRUCTION: A Flood Warning means water levels above flood stage are imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along rivers and streams in the warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 24 hours into the future. Changes to the rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 24 hours, may cause changes to these river forecasts. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
